We call ourselves fireflies.

Jen has been an activist her whole life. She started an environmental group in high school and a pro-choice organization in college before landing what felt like a dream job: bringing technology and digital organizing together at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, where she helped build the organization's first online action network and a database of more than 500,000 supporters. She was part of the team behind the 2004 March for Women's Lives, one of the largest marches in Washington DC history.

She left to start Firefly in 2007 for reasons that will be familiar to a lot of women in this sector. Smart women were being talked over. Overpaid consultants were being brought in to say back exactly what the women in the room had already said. She wanted to do great technology work across more than one cause. So she built the agency she wished had existed.

Nearly two decades later she is more grateful than she can say to have spent a career working on issues near and dear to her heart, and determined to leave the world more intact for her children than she found it. She hosts UnTangled, a weekly LinkedIn Live on AI and digital engagement for the social sector, and speaks and writes on Purpose-First AI.
